Happy Holidays to everyone.

I have been a bit delinquent in writing here. I've been hanging out over at the Facebook place.

I have been on holiday for the last couple of weeks - lucky me. :) I spent a week of that time up in Brisbane with the Breeder of Faxon and Chloe. The reason for the visit was to bring home yet another Afghan hound. Yes I am now officially crazy.

Anyway here is a couple of pics of the little critter - call name Lochie, Show name Tianze Warlock.

Cooling off.

On other news, I can almost believe in Santa Claus! It has rained all day here which means one of the water tanks is close to full. :)

Chloe spotted a hare in our freshly slashed paddock. Fortunately for the hare there were two fences between it and Chloe.
May be old news to some but I just discovered Fishpond.com.au.

Have gone through and wishlisted a whole heap of NZ history books and a couple of tattoo/moko books.

Now to find the money to buy them all.

Despite the afore mention climatic conditions I did it. I went for my lunch time ride. What's even better I actually rode around the lake - a distance of 18 km.

Gotta tell you it's hard to get motivated to go for a ride at lunch time when it is 7.4 degrees C 97% humidity and still foggy outside.

I'm off to have a sleep study done tonight.

The thing that puzzles me is how do they acurtely measure your sleep when;

A) You are in a strange bed/environment
B) You are connected to a bunch of cables
C) They are filming you.

I can see all of these leading me to have a long and sleepless night. :(

I had FUN in Queensland! The drive there and back - two days each way - was not fun although the drive back was funer than the drive up, only cos it wasn't raining.

Friday was spent bathing dogs - I believe we got through ten Afghans.

Saturday was spent at the Afghan Specialty. Chloe got 4th in her class. Magik, Faxon's brother took out Best in Show. Team Tianze celebrated!

Sunday we went to the allbreeds show - Chloe was again 4th. She was not at all impressed by the Judges full length swishy rain coat!

Monday we went Afghan Racing.

Today I am back at work.

I finally got my Breeders prefix. Keshwar.

For the curious I got the name from:

1977: An Afghan woman activist named Meena Keshwar Kamal laid the foundation of RAWA (Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan). Later, when the Mujahideen defeated the Soviets and freed Afghanistan from communist rule, RAWA became critical of them, and even accused them of war crimes. RAWA wishes to establish a secular government in Afghanistan, and are against an Islamic government.

1987 (February 4th) - Meena Keshwar Kamal, the founder of RAWA was assassinated.

I have no idea what is going on with my body right now.

Out of the last 14 or so days I have not been sick for one of those days.

I thought exercise and getting healthy and fit was supposed to prevent one getting sick.

Anyway I am over the latest bout of gastro. Fingers crossed nothing else comes along.

I successfully hunted and gathered and sent off my younger granddaughters 5th birthday present today.

Got her three books. One a story about dogs which included pics of a saluki, a book called magic pony which looks like it is part of a series - future gift ideas ;) - and a book about Aussie animals.

Gotta say I love buying books for the grandkids. There is such a wide range of books available these days.

The other success today was getting my watch strap fixed. Took it to the Fossil shop and they were going to have to keep it for approx 4 weeks and replace the strap at a cost to me of $15.00. I instead took it downstairs to the little watch kiosky thing. The nice lady there fixed it while Saluqi and I had lunch and posted off above mentioned books. all for the princely sum of $10.00.

I am a happy Bear indeed.

Last year I bought myself a mountain bike. I rode it a few times at lunch time but to be honest fairly infrequently.

Over the last month or so I have actually decided to get serious and try to improve my fitness. To this end I bought some road tires for my bike. Made a huge difference in rideability. So for the last few weeks I've been trying to ride at least twice a week. I ride the same route of 12 kms. (For Canberra folk, I ride from work out to the Boathouse restaurant and back) Today I set my fastest time of 33.35 minutes. My goal is to get that down to 30 minutes.

All this just so I can run around a square ring with a dog. :)

Well this last weekend was interesting and busy.

I started bathing dogs, for the weekends shows, on Thursday night with Chloe. Did the two Saluki's on Friday night - Mab and Jadir.

Bathing the 'lukis on Friday night turned in the easy part of the weekend. I'd noticed that there seemed to be a water leak down by our bore. So after bathing dogs I went to investigate. Played a bit with the pipe that seemed to be leaking and the fitting popped out of the ground. Water went every where. Race up to the header tank to turn off the tap. This stops the flood. Manage to work out what I needed to do to refit the fitting. Got this done turn on tap at header tank then notice a new fountain coming out of the ground. Now too dark to see so turn header tap off and leave until Saturday.

Saturday we head off to a dog show at Braidwood. Chloe got BOB and 6 points (Her First points) Jadir got BOB over Mab and Mab also got her first 6 points. Yay Team!

Get home from show @ about 3.30pm and back to fixing water leak. After enlarging my original hole I found that the pipe had split. After a futile attempt to tape split up left until I had enough time and light to fix properly.

In the midst of me doing this and [livejournal.com profile] saluqi trying to fill up the trough for the cattle in our back paddock we had a thunder storm! The first rain we have had in weeks!.

Unfortunately while the humans were down sheltering in the barn the dogs were out playing in the rain. Did I mention we had a show on Sunday?

When I had finished playing in the mud in my hole I was faced with a very wet and muddy Afghan hound puppy. Fortunately after a shower for me and a blow dry for Chloe all was looking and feeling good again.:)

Sunday's show started at 8.30 am!. Chloe again got BOB and another 6 points (12 points down 88 to go :) ) Jadir got RUBOB.

Because of the early start we were home early. So off to the hardware store to by the appropriate joiner parts and back to my muddy hole. :) After much cursing and cutting of pipe I now believe the leak is fixed and all is good with our irrigation system, the cattle are getting water and life is good.

So to sum out if you are still with me. A great weekend for the baby girl Afghan and an accomplished weekend fixing pipes for me.

Well it's been a while since I did an update here.

I've been a tad busy over the last month or so.

Late Sept [livejournal.com profile] saluqi and I jetted off across the Tasman to New Zild for my Daughters wedding. I have to say I actually had a better time than I expected. Finally meeting my two granddaughters was the highlight.

This pic is on my Flickr site. :)

Once we got back from NZ I flew off to Brisbane to pick up the cutest Afghan puppy in the world!

Introducing Chloe - Tianze Arwen th Evenstar.
