A couple of songs that immediately sprung to mind.

The first "There is no depression in New Zealand" by Blam Blam Blam was written in response to a comment by then Prime Minister Robert Muldoon about new Zealand not being in a Depression in the late 80's (Note: this isn't the original video but was the only one I could find with this song. :( )



The second is from a great NZ band protesting against French nuclear testing in the Pacific. Herbs - French Letter. Enjoy!

I think that Blam Blam Blam track is my absolute favourite kiwi track from the 80s. Thank god for Don McGlashan and his irony. Actually, I think "There is no depression in New Zealand, there are no sheep on our farms" is my favourite ever line in a kiwi song. That clip of driving through the Gorge goes surprisingly well with the track!

As for Herbs, it's a shame they don't have a clip from the original version, but yeah, that was a fab time when the NZ govt sent out that frigate to Mururoa.
